Tough 1500 Resin is a flexible, skin-safe material with strength and stiffness similar to polypropylene (PP). Choose Tough 1500 Resin for producing rigid and flexible parts that bend and spring back quickly, prototypes that require repeated flexing and fast recovery, as well as jigs and fixtures that undergo repeated deflection.


Certified for skin contact, Tough 1500 Resin is ideal for wearable devices, personal protective equipment, and other consumer-facing products. For parts that are certified skin-safe, it is essential to follow the recommended post-processing conditions for Tough 1500 Resin strictly.

Tough 1500 Resin

Formlabs has launched Tough 1500 Resin, the latest addition to its resin family, compatible with desktop SLA printers including Form 3 and Form 2.

Parts printed with Tough 1500 Resin exhibit excellent strength and flexibility, capable of bending under periodic loads and rebounding quickly. Ideal for functional prototypes, jigs, fixtures, and connectors that must withstand temporary deformation, this material simulates the stiffness and strength of polypropylene (PP).

Tough 1500 Resin is the most flexible material in the newly segmented Tough and Durable Resin product line, which includes Tough Resin, Tough 1500 Resin, and Durable Resin. While their mechanical behaviors are similar under force, they differ distinctly in stiffness and elongation.

Application Areas of Tough 1500 Resin

Tough 1500 Resin is ideal for prototypes and connectors that require quick recovery after flexing, such as springs, clips, press-fits, and hinges.

It is also suitable for jigs and fixtures that endure repeated deformation and impact. Tough 1500 Resin balances stiffness, strength, and impact resistance, making it a great choice for various production applications.

Polypropylene Prototyping with Tough 1500 Resin

Polypropylene (PP) is a common thermoplastic widely used in fast-moving consumer goods. Tough 1500 Resin simulates the strength and stiffness of PP products effectively.

The “1500” in Tough 1500 Resin indicates its tensile modulus (in MPa). As Formlabs refines its material formulations, we’ll continue naming resins using the "descriptor + number" format, with tensile modulus as a key differentiator within the Tough and Durable family.

Tough 1500 Resin in Action: Tesla Sensor Brackets

Unplugged Performance, a global leader in Tesla performance upgrades, previously spent up to 1.5 days per car manually removing and reinstalling sensor brackets. Now, with Formlabs printers, they can print 30 brackets per batch, cutting the upgrade time dramatically and servicing three cars per day.
